Who, What, Where, When, Why? |
Who? We are a group of Christian believers, sinners saved by the grace of God in Christ, who have started meeting in Knebworth to worship God together and to faithfully proclaim the unsearchable riches of Christ. God has said in His Word that ‘Where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them’ (Matt. 18:20), and although we are small in number we have found this to be true. We are not alone, however, having close links with other believers in similar circumstances in the U.K and some much larger churches in the U.S.A. |
What? Our services seek to incorporate all elements of worship, with Bible readings, prayer, hymns old and new and a sermon (lasting approx. 35 minutes). In everything we do we seek to glorify God and to be faithful to his Word, aiming to provide spiritual food for believers and to proclaim the good news of God’s saving grace in Christ to the unconverted. We do not undertake any rituals whatsoever based on human tradition (i.e Christenings, Confirmation etc.), but instead embrace Baptism for believers as commanded in the Bible, and Communion, or the ‘Lord’s Supper’, for the same. We have a Sunday School for under 11s in which the truths of the Bible are taught gently and in a way suitable for and appealing to that age group. |
Where? We have just stared meeting at Knebworth Primary School, Swangley’s Lane, Knebworth, where we have the use of a main meeting room (the music room) and the adjoining After-School Club room for Sunday School/ Creche. |
When? We have a service at 10.30 a.m. on a Sunday led by Allan Jellett. There is Sunday School for children aged 4-11 years during the sermon, and facilities for younger children. On a Sunday evening we meet at 5.30 p.m. for a Bible Study and prayer, and the first Sunday of each month takes the form of a Communion service. We hope to have other occasional events in the future, including some of an evangelistic nature. |
Why? Our primary objective is to worship God, in Christ and proclaim the gospel to those around us. To this end we seek to follow God’s will as revealed in scripture and believe this is the complete revelation of God; nothing can be added and nothing taken away from his Word. We have found in so many churches and religious groups that this is not the case and man’s ‘wisdom’ is so often used to alter what is clearly taught. For example the teachings of God given through the apostle Paul are so often dismissed as not relevant to society today. So it is for this reason that we feel the need to meet together and proclaim this message. We do not wish to form a sect but we cannot compromise on the gospel message of scripture and the centrality of Christ since He says ‘I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me’ (John 14v6). |
